The
fine wines of the Langhe > Favorita wine
Favorita
vine is a white berried one, which is
traditionally cultivated on Alba hills, especially
on the left side of the river Tanaro. Once ripen,
usually in the second decade of September, grapes
are pressed and the must is subjected to alcoholic
fermentation, at a constant low temperature (17-18°C).
After some months, the bottling occurs, which
usually coincides with the beginning of spring.
Its marketing begins a few weeks later. Langhe
Favorita wine has delicate and very peculiar
characteristics; a not very vivacious yellow pale
color, crowned with subtle greenish reflections;
its smell is fragrant, fruity, floral, with an
odour of rennet apple; its taste is dry, full and
delicately acidulous; it is a wine to be drunk
young, preferably in its first two years; its
ideal matchings are delicate appetizers,
especially fish, vegetables and white meat; it can
be also drunk as an aperitif; in any case, it is
advisable to serve it at the temperature of 10-12°C.
